The acts of atrocities committed by the Papuan separatist terrorist group (KSTP) have recently increased. KSTP claimed to have carried out the attack and said that their attack resulted in the death of five TNI members in the Yahukimo area, Highlands Papua Province, Monday (21/8/2023). TPNPB-OPM spokesman Sebby Sambom said the shooting of the five TNI-Polri members was based on a report from TPNPB Kodap III Ndugama-Derakna led by Anis Baye who said that five members of the TNI-Polri had been successfully shot dead, Tuesday (22/8/2023). The official report from the TNI and Polri received from the location of the gun battle at the Marines Yon-7 Mobile Pamtas Military Post, stated that only one soldier died.
The TNI soldier who died was on behalf of Pratu Marine Agung Pramudi Laksono (27). The victim reportedly died on the way to Dekai Hospital. The deceased was a member of the Marines of the Indonesian Navy who served in the Mobile Yon-7 Pamtas Task Force. The attack occurred on Monday (21/8/2023) when the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) attacked the Satgas Mobile Yon 7 Marines in Dekai District, Yahukimo, Papua Mountains. The post, which is located on Jalan Yahuli, Lower Paradiso Kilometer 6, Dekai District, is a new post that is currently under construction. Dandim 1715 Yahukimo Lt. Col. Inf Tommy Yudistyo suspected that the cause of the shooting was because the KKB Kodap XVI Yahukimo was not happy with the construction of a TNI-Polri Task Force post in the area. Sebby Sambom’s statement stating that the TPNPB-OPM succeeded in killing 5 Marines in Dekai District, Yahukimo Regency, Papua Mountains was an incorrect statement/hoax. A series of false statements/hoaxes made by Sebby Sambom include:
1. Sebby Sambom’s statement regarding the shooting of the Trigana Air plane during take off from Nop Goliat Dekay Airport, Yahukimo on (11/3/2023). The Trigana Air plane was shot by KSTP operating in the Yahukimo area. However, Sebby said that this was not the act of his group but accused the TNI and Polri of this. Sebby Sambom’s lies were proven from the voice recordings of the KSTP OPM Yahukimo group who were sending a report to Sebby Sambom, that they (KSTP) shot at the Trigana Air plane when it departed from Nop Goliat Dekay Yahukimo Airport.
2. In the search for pilot Susi Air Captain Phillip Mark Mehrtens, a New Zealand pilot who was kidnapped by rebels in February 2023. The spokesman for the rebel group Sebby Sambom on (17/4/2023), stated that his group managed to detain 12 TNI bodies, including nine people who were “arrested and executed”, however the rebels were unable to provide any evidence to support their claims. TNI Admiral Yudo Margono said there was only one victim, four soldiers were missing, and the rest returned to their posts. Four of those who have returned are in injured but stable condition and were evacuated to a hospital in Timika, Papua.
3. Sebby’s other statement that they (tPNPB) carried out an attack in retaliation for Indonesia’s “massive military operation” in Papua. TNI commander Yudo Margono dismissed the rebel claims as “fake news” and said the military operation in Papua was launched with the aim of minimizing casualties and would increase pressure on rebels in some separatist strongholds.
It can be concluded that so far the statements made by Sebby Sambom as a spokesperson have made up many false stories, are untrue, encourage violence to kill innocent security forces and civil society, barbaric and cruel behavior committed by KSTP in Papua. The KSTP terror hampered the development of important infrastructure in Papua. and don’t want Papuans to progress. Sebby Sambom and KSTP must be eradicated because they hinder development in Papua, even though the people really need it so that their welfare continues to increase.
