Westnoken – The Sentani district government in East Papua province is boosting the economy of residents of seven villages by providing 1000 fish seeds per family.
Along with fish seeds the district government provides seven bags of fish meal (each bag weighs 50 kg) and 48 pieces per family. Jayapura East Papua Sentani District President Asli Chuangburaro was contacted on Sunday when 48 beneficiary families in seven villages in his area were assisted.
He said assistance of IDR 598 million was provided from the 2013 Special Autonomous Fund for fish feed seeds and salt. According to Asli there are two activities under Special Autonomy (OTS) administration this year namely fish seed feeding and hatching and other factories.
He said that the fish seed feeding processing facilities are ready but the factory has not been constructed. Asli also explained the assistance expected from the government to improve the economic well-being of the communities in the seven districts.
We hope that the community can get the most out of their management with this fish seed feeding and support strategy. He said the economy of the community is better if the aid is not limited.
He said We hope that the support of fishermen will continue in service so that the community really understands how to use aquaculture in the surrounding areas to improve their economy.
